JMM stakes claim on 12 seats for Bihar Assembly polls

Ranchi, Oct 5 (UNI) The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has staked claim to contest 12 assembly seats in the upcoming Bihar elections, focusing on constituencies bordering Jharkhand.
Senior JMM leaders Sudivya Kumar Sonu and Vinod Pandey will meet RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav in Patna on October 6 to discuss seat-sharing arrangements, following directions from party president and Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
According to party sources, JMM has identified Tarapur, Katoria, Manihari, Jhajha, Banka, Thakurganj, Rupauli, Rampur, Banmankhi, Jamalpur, Pirpainti, and Chakai as potential constituencies, citing a strong organisational presence and voter base in these areas.
The party asserts that its grassroots network and past electoral performance make it a deserving partner in the Mahagathbandhan alliance.
JMM leaders indicated that the upcoming meeting holds strategic importance after no concrete discussion on seat-sharing took place during Hemant Soren’s earlier meeting with RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav at the ‘Voter Adhikar Rally’ in September.
Notably, during the Jharkhand Assembly elections last year, JMM had allotted seven seats to RJD, of which the latter won four. The party now seeks a similar level of respect and partnership in Bihar, advocating for equitable representation within the alliance.
